Examples of voice commands

Querying/setting the temperature

Required devices:

  • SmartHome radiator thermostat
  • SmartHome room thermostat

 

1. Setting the temperature

Voice command formula: 

"OK Google, set [device name + room name] to [number]°C"

 
Examples: 

"OK Google, set the room climate in the living room to 23°C."
"OK Google, increase the room climate in the kitchen by 2°C."
"OK Google, reduce the room climate in the bathroom by 3°C."

 

2. Querying the temperature:

  • Current room temperature:  

Voice command formula:

“OK Google, what is the temperature of [device name + room name]?”

 

  • Target temperature:  

Voice command formula: 

“What is the temperature of [device name + room name]?”

Alternatively:

“How is [device name + room name] set?”

“What temperature is [device name + room name] set to?”

Controlling lighting and electrical appliances

1. Switching lighting and appliances on/off 

Required devices:

  • SmartHome pluggable switch
  • SmartHome pluggable switch (exterior)
  • SmartHome inwall light switch

 

Voice command formula:

"OK Google, switch [device name + room name] on."

 

Examples:

“OK Google, switch the ceiling lights in the living room on.”
“OK Google, switch the TV in the living room off.”

 

2. Dimming lights  

Required devices:

  • SmartHome pluggable switch (dimmable)
  • SmartHome inwall dimmer

 

Voice command formula:

"OK Google, switch [device name + room name] on."


Examples:

OK Google, set the ceiling lights in the living room to 40%.”
OK Google, dim the ceiling lights in the living room by 15%.”

Controlling roller shutters and awings

Required devices:

  • SmartHome inwall roller shutter controller


Voice command formula:

"OK Google, set the [device name + room name] to [number]%.”

 

Example:

"OK Google, set the roller shutter in the living room to 40%.”

 

 When it comes to voice control of roller shutters Google Home is still answering the following question:  

"Clear, the lamp [device name] Brightness is set to [number]%".

This can be explained by the fact that Google Home does not provide any additional functionality for percentage control.

CONTROLLING COMPATIBLE DEVICES

The following external devices already integrated in the SmartHome system are now also supported by SmartHome Skill:

 

WakeOnLAN

Controlling Wake-on-LAN-capable devices

Voice command formula:

„OK Google, switch [device name(s) + room name] on.“

 

eBox Remote

Activating and deactivating the charging function for electric vehicles.

Voice command formula:

„OK Google, switch eBox Remote on“

Charge limiting is deactivated. The charging current is set at 16/32 amperes, depending on the type of charging box.

 

„OK Google, switch eBox Remote off“ 

Charge limiting is activated. Current or future charging processes are deactivated.

 

Miele@home household devices

Controlling Miele@home household devices (washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher)

If the Miele device is in operating mode “Waiting to start”:

Voice command formula: 
”OK Google, switch [device name + room name] on.”

If the Miele device is in operating mode “Waiting to start” or “Active”:
”OK Google, switch [device name + room name] off.”

 

Buderus heating systems

Controlling Buderus heating systems with integrated IP interface.

Sample formula for voice command for only one heating circuit:

“OK Google, set Buderus to 23°C”
“OK Google, increase Buderus by 2°C”
“OK Google, reduce Buderus by 3°C”

Sample formula for voice command for more than one heating circuit:

“OK Google, set Buderus heating circuit 1 to 23°C”
“OK Google, increase Buderus heating circuit 1 by 2°C”
“OK Google, reduce Buderus heating circuit 1 by 3°C”

 

ENTR door lock

Status query and completion of ENTR door lock.

Voice command formula:

„OK Google, close the door“
„OK Google, which state does the front door has?“
„OK Google, is the front door locked?“

Control status

Voice command formula:

“OK Google, switch Comfort on.”

“OK Google, switch Comfort off.”

Comfort is an example of a status name Comfort that you can create yourself on the SmartHome app.

 

Voice command formula:

“OK Google, switch [status name + room name] on/off.”

 

Tip: Use statuses as triggers for activating scenarios.

Important note: Please ensure that no safety-related SmartHome scenarios are triggered by switching statuses on or off.

Tips

  • You can create groups in the “Smart Home” section of the Google Home app enabling you to control, for example, “all lights”.

  • You can also use groups to assign multiple names to a single device.

  • Use statuses as triggers for activating scenarios.
